Karm Patel
About
Karm is pursuing an M.Tech in Computer Science from IISc Bangalore, India. Currently, he is working in the cognition lab with Prof. Sridhar Devarajan. His area of interest is AI for healthcare. He is exploring self-supervised learning and out-of-distribution (OoD) generalization techniques for selective classification problems in medical images. In Summer 2022, he worked with Dr. Kevin Murphy as a Google Summer of Code (GSoC) contributor at TensorFlow organization. He has done Bachelor from VGEC, Ahmedabad, in Computer Engineering.

- 15 Aug 2023: Submitted the paper - “Rescuing referral failures during automated diagnosis of domain-shifted medical images” - Anuj Srivastava (IISc), Karm Patel (IISc), Sridharan Devrajan (Center for Neuroscience, IISc), Pradeep Shenoy (Google Research), at AAAI-2024 – Under review.
- 1 Aug 2023: I’ve been awarded Reliance Foundation PG Scholarship (among 100 in India).
- 1 May 2023: Joined Cognition lab (Prof. Sridhar Devarajan) at IISc for MTech Project collaboration with Google Reseach.
- 27 Dec 2022: Topped in 1st semester M.Tech (course work) CSA at IISc with 9.0 CGPA.
- 26 Aug, 2022: Gave a 4-minute lightning talk (in person) at Air Sensors International Conference held in Bangalore.
- 1 Aug, 2022: Joined IISc, M.Tech, Comuter Science :)
- 1 July 2022: Presented (Virtually) my paper “Samachar” in COMPASS conference.
- 21 May, 2022: I got selected in GSoC’22, TensorFlow team under Dr. Kevin Murphy :)
- 20 May, 2022: Received M.Tech offers from IISc Bangalore and all Top IITs (IITB (MS Research), IITM, IITD, IITKgp, IITK, IITR, IITGn) based on my GATE score and performance in written test and interviews.
- 26 April, 2022: Our research paper got accepted at ACM COMPASS titled “Samachar: Print News Media on Air Pollution in India”.
- 17 Mar, 2022: Achieved All India Rank - 128/77,257 in GATE Computer Science, 2022.
